This morning I made my way to the Melbourne Zoo on the tram. The zoo is one of the nicest I’ve been to with excellent viewing for the animals, as well as a more natural environment. I stopped by the Tigers a number of times including feeding time.
I also stopped by both the Koala and Seal exhibits for the keeper talks. The seal trainers had 2 of the seals perform a number of tricks including jumping up into the air to a ball hanging.
Inside the platypus exhibit I was finally able to see one swimming around. They are quite cute and it’s fun to watch them fly though the water.
After spending half the day at the zoo I headed back into the Central Business District for supper. Just across the Yarra River I went up the Eureka Skydeck. 88 floors up it provides an awesome viewing point of the city. The sunset was obscured by some haze and clouds, but still enjoyable.
Instead of catching the tram back to my hotel I walked down Swanson Street(one of the main streets). On my way back I came across a number of interesting things. The first was a guy in a penguin suit playing the bag pipes. I couldn’t help but laugh at some of the stuff a religious preacher on another corner was saying. As well there was a person singing/playing the guitar, another beatbox rapping, and person playing an electronic keyboard. Of all the cities I’ve visited Melbourne is by far the most interesting.
